mushroom with a view…

Start the day with a free espresso in the room.

Without trying to be up early, we begin wandering the streets at 9:30am. There’s not much open as we walk towards the river, and have to head towards a more populated area to find food.

Breakfast in the sun, by a bridge. The tables sport a genius wastepaper bin under one leg.
Churros.
€2€2
Waffle with chocolate.
€3€3
The classic Spanish coffee with ice.
€2€2

Find a nice spot by the river and sit awhile in the sun, which is already pretty hot by now.

The bull ring is nearby, but the only way to view inside is an €8€8 tour, in half an hour. So we decide to give it a miss.

Stop off to answer a croissant craving, despite it being an average looking touristy place.
Cortado coffee.
€1.50€1.50
Jarra of beer for Makenzie.
€3€3
Croissant york y queso.
€3.10€3.10

Walk back to the room, but first a quick visit to a supermarket. Some treats for later.
Packet of chips.
€1€1
10 coffee capsules.
€1.98€1.98
Bottle of wine.
€4.30€4.30
A different bottle of wine.
€7.60€7.60

Wine in the fridge, we head out with a more specific objective, the mushrooms of Seville. A viewpoint known as Metropol Parasol, or the Setas (mushrooms) of Sevilla.

Viewpoint entry, including “a free drink”.
€3€3
The free drink, once you’re at the top, turns out to be €1€1 off selected drinks.
I get a medium-sized beer.
€1.50€1.50
Makenzie goes for the two glasses of sparkling wine.
€3.50€3.50

More walking, followed by a less than generous portion of Jamón.
€4€4
Gazpacho, another Spanish favourite.
€3€3
And 2 beers.
€1.50€1.50 each.

A pit stop for fresh juice.
€2.95€2.95

Before finding ourselves back by the river again.

We begin walking to the boats in Plaza de España, but decide to abort the mission and do the boats tomorrow.

Discover a world food market event in the park. We check it out, and despite the clearly inaccurate signs with made up distances to other countries, we decide to try some overpriced food of questionable quality.

To make it more interesting we have to eat at countries neither of us have visited.
Chicken croqueta.
€2.50€2.50
Empanada.
€2.50€2.50
Green tamal.
€4€4

Underwhelmed, but less hungry we head back.

Not before spotting an amusing, all too familiar, flag mix up.

Buy an ice cream, to eat later, from a small shop.
€2.20€2.20

Drink wine in the room.
